Residence Life Council
Chaired by the SGA Vice President for Residence Life, the Residence Life Council (RLC) is the residential legislative and programming branch of SGA. Meetings are on Monday evenings at 4PM in Kennamer Conference Room in Middle Powell.
Vice President for Residence Life
Analogous to the United States House of Representatives, RLC concentrates its efforts on campus residents (as distinct from the Student Senate, which maintains a campus-wide view) in providing programs, services, and advocacy.
Residence Life Council (RLC) is specifically devoted to on-campus residents. It serves as the student partner of Housing. RLC works closely with the hall councils, Resident Assistants and Residence Hall Coordinators to provide outstanding programs for residents such as Eastern's Got Talent, Campout for the Homeless, the Eastern Cup, and many others. In order to provide better programs, RLC attends and sometimes even hosts conferences on a state, regional, and national level. They have traveled to Georgia, North Carolina, Illinois, Mississippi, Florida, and even California to learn and share information about the organization, as well as to mingle and make new friends.
Though programming is a large portion of the organization, RLC also advocates for a better quality of living in the residence halls. They conduct research pertaining to what on-campus residents need and/or want to improve in the halls and then write and pass legislation accordingly. The legislation is then presented to Housing officials, as well as SGA officials and is carried forward.
If you live in the residence halls and are interested in policy, programming and conferencing, RLC is definitely for you!
